The CITY 5 team was invited to the Narcy-KALALA tournament organised by Urbansoccer. This competition took place in Guyancourt in the suburbs of Paris in the form of a mini world cup. It opposed no less than 16 nations divided into 2 groups of 8 teams with 7 players each.
CITY5 was represented by 2 teams(India 1 and India 2) driven by the desire to prove their worth. After many games in the scorching heat, both teams reached the quarter finals.
At this point, India 2 lost to Morocco (0-2) after a fiesty battle, to our great disappointment. However, we were happy to see that one of our teams, India 1 was still in the competition.
After some resounding victories over Italy, Portugal, and Belgium, India 1 finished first of its group. The victories didn’t stop there, and after eliminating France (2-0) in the quarter finals and then Morocco (4-3) in the semi finals, we were ecstatic to see Team India win the tournament.
Concerning the players, the standards were high but some of them stood out from the crowd. Fabrice Madoure was elected best scorer with no less than 8 goals and Tony Mariannie was the best player of the whole tournament.
We want to thank the whole organising team for welcoming us into this tournament, and giving CITY 5 an opportunity to show its talents. All of this became possible thanks to the motivation and dedication from each member of the staff of Team India : Pradeep (manager/coach) who knew how to lead his troops, Cédric (manager/player) who was very present on the field, Franck P. (assistant coach) and Diez (mental coach) who both boosted the team and gave them the energy to pursue the victory. We also want to thank our medical staff Franck T. (fitness trainer) and Johanna (osteopath) for their expertise.
